It is an exciting time to be at John H. Francis Polytechnic High School (Los Angeles Unified School District) with our new music technology and industry studies program, taught by Ms. Amy Lui. This innovative program is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in today’s ever-evolving music landscape. Under the guidance of Ms. Lui, students will explore the dynamic intersection of music, technology, and industry practices. They will have the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge software, hands-on projects, and industry-standard equipment, all while gaining insights into the real-world applications of their learning. Whether you’re passionate about music production, audio engineering, or understanding the business side of the music industry, this program offers a unique and comprehensive education that prepares students for both higher education and professional careers in the music industry.
We are thrilled to embark on this journey together and look forward to seeing our students innovate, create, and succeed in this exciting field.

Our purpose
At Poly High, we see music technology as the application of the field of music as it relates to life, society and the environment. It is more than just about the gear and equipment utilized to produce music, it is about developing musicianship and integrating a college-level curriculum with real world experiences that allow for interactions and collaborations with music industry professionals.

The Mission
Our mission is to inspire and equip students with the knowledge and skills to thrive at the intersection of music and technology. We are dedicated to exploring the application of music as it relates to life, society, and the environment, fostering a deep understanding of how music shapes and is shaped by the world around us.
In addition to music technology, our music industry studies segment allows students to seamlessly connect their learning in music technology with real-world career opportunities. By combining creativity, technical proficiency, and industry insights, we prepare our students to be innovative leaders in the music industry and impactful contributors to society. Additionally, the unique experiences that we provide for our students are intended to develop skills and opportunities toward meaningful careers in the creative and entrepreneurial fields.
