A historic institution

Founded in 1897, Poly is the second oldest school in the Los Angeles Unified School District with humble beginnings in Downtown, Los Angeles (now the campus of the Los Angeles Trade Tech College) and has now been serving the Sun Valley community for nearly 70 years.

Small learning communities

Poly HS encompasses several small learning communities to more directly serve the specific needs of our students, which includes the Freshman and 10th Grade Centers, Royal and Gold Academies, Magnet and the School for Advanced Studies (SAS) program. 

A COMMUNITY SCHOOL

Poly HS is a Title I School and serves a high-needs population within a low-income community that includes foster, homeless, at-risk youth, and students with special needs. Our school is one of 17 schools in the nation's second largest school district to hold the distinction of community school.
